WordPress version 4.2, has been released today, April 23, 2015, and is named ‘Powell‘ in honor of jazz pianist Earl Rudolph ‘Bud’ Powell.
Bud Powell, along with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, was a leading figure in the development of bebop, and his great technical skill and captivating personal style led many to call him the Charlie Parker of the piano.
Bud Powell was also a composer, and extended the range of jazz harmony.
